Copenhagen’s Dome of Visions
Copenhagen’s waterfront has a visitor. The Dome of Visions - a serene, ambient space for concerts, installations, debates - is the latest addition of beautiful minimalistic construction.
In a city practically oozing with architectural showpieces old and new - like the Opera House, the floppy-hatted building in the left of the photo - the Dome isn’t attempting to upstage anything, but question how we use forgotten space.
In a sort of if-we-build-it-they-will-come mantra, the Dome sits on Krøyers Plads at the end of Christianshavn, a slightly tricky to access space that hangs between warehouses housing architectural office spaces and the venerable Noma.
As explained on their project site,
The Dome of Visions project is about putting action into words and following through on new ideas in construction and urban thinking and planing. The dome is intended specially to inspire and to challenge regarding the solutions for the climate challenges to come.
See more on Arch Daily and take a look at their events before they move to Aarhus in May.
